Background:
In 1993 I was required to
take a basic CPR/First-Aid course. Three months after learning that skill I had
to use it on a civilian who had gone into cardiac arrest only seconds before I
arrived. I was amazed at the role I was able to play in that scenario with only
the knowledge of an 8-hour course. In 1999 I moved to east Tennessee and began
working as a whitewater rafting guide. During that time I began taking First
Responder courses, swift-water rescue courses and I was re-certified in CPR. I
am proud to be an EMT now (since May 2007), an American Heart Association CPR,
AED and First Aid Instructor (www.EmergencySkillsTraining.com),
and I am looking forward to becoming a Paramedic. For more information please

always prepared to deal with anaphylactic shock and other adverse situations
that arise in that environment. Our services are extended to the employee’s
family members, so I vaccinate a variety of people (ages 6&up).
